What types of projects are eligible?
Eligible projects must fit within the Main Street Enid mission of revitalizing downtown Enid, strengthening it as the heart of our city, through organization, design, promotion and economic restructuring. Projects could involve art, events, business expansions, programs, beautification, facade renovation, community involvement, history... Am I eligible to apply? We welcome any individual, group, business or organization to submit a project that will have a positive impact on downtown Enid. You do not have to be a Member of Main Street Enid. How will the projects be selected for each event? A committee that represents design, organization, promotion, economic restructuring, art, youth and history will review all submissions and select up to five projects to be presented. Some of the qualities they be looking for in a project are creativity, impact and feasibility. How large will the grants be? It depends on how many attend the event. May I pay for others to attend and vote for my project? No, you may only pay admission for your immediate family. Do kids' votes count? If the child is 10 years or older and able to listen to all 5 projects before voting, their vote will count. May I submit more than one project? Yes, you may submit more than one, but not more than one of yours will be selected to be presented at a single event. |
Are there any strings attached to receiving a grant?
We ask the grantees only use the funds for the project they presented. We also ask grantees to return to a future dinner to share progress on their projects. If there is no progress on the project in 90 days of the event, we reserve the right to award the grant funds to the runner-up. How will funds be disbursed? Funds will be held by Main Street Enid, to be released as receipts or bills are presented for the project. Recipients are advised to consult a tax professional regarding the appropriate treatment of the grant for IRS purposes. If I submit a project, do I still have to buy a ticket? Yes, everyone who’s attending Food for Thought, including presenters and event organizers, must buy a ticket. Each of us will make a difference! Can I apply if I can’t attend the event? If you apply and can't attend the event, please notify us to be considered for a future event. I applied, but was not selected. May I apply again? Yes, we receive many proposals and can only accommodate five per event. If I am funded, when can I apply again? Winning presenters must wait at least one year from selection before applying again. May I create my own promotional fliers to encourage people to vote for my project? No, you must only use our flyers, which you may share as much as you'd like, which include all 5 projects, times, location and sponsor information. |
