2010

  • Main Street won 2 state awards: Best Creative Fund Raising for Stakeholder Fundraiser and Best Interior Design for Body Solid
  • Jazz Stroll in conjunction with Smokin' Red Dirt BBQ was a success
  • First Fridays continued throughout the year
  • Oktoberfest partnered with the AMBUCS and their "Putting for Miracles"
  • U. S. Cellular was again Title Sponsor for Enid Lights Up The Plains
  • Main Street Annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition was held as an after work reception at Scribner's Art Gallery. Planned by Membership Committee - very well received and will be same format for 2011
  • Park Avenue Thrift creates Enid Gives campaign: Maxine Austin is spokesperson saying: You can be an Enid Philanthropist! Money raised goes to Main Street, Symphony, Gaslight Theatre, Pegasys and Leonardos
  • Cara Evans Carson becomes chair of the Economic Restructuring committee; starts working on a BID for downtown Enid
  • 17th annual Enid Lights Up The Plains a success


2009

  • Main Street has 7 finalists in the State Main Street Awards
  • Plans underway for 3rd Annual Jazz Stroll
  • Enid named a Tree City for first time
  • Downtown Enid Main Street Merchants - group of downtown business owners meet to plan promotions
  • Main Street Enid wins 3 Awards at the State Main Street Awards Banquet in OKC
  • Main Street Enid celebrates 15 years of making our downtown the best that it can be!
  • Planning for Oktoberfest, in conjunction with First Friday, is underway
  • Main Street nearing the $25 million mark in private reinvestments
  • U. S. Cellular signs on for the 7th year as Title Sponsor for Enid Lights Up The Plains
  • Buddy Nicholas and Corey Groendyke voted in as new Board members
  • Buddy Nicholas starts work on removing the facade from the old Layfield building at Broadway and Grand


2008

  • Downtown Enid placed on Register of Historic Places
  • Main Street wins 2 awards at State Awards Banquet: Best Window Display and Outstanding Image
  • Promotion for Main Street Enid is... Campaign
  • Reinvestment reports for private sector exceed $22 million
  • 2nd Annual Jazz Stroll a success
  • Park Avenue Thrift underwrites corner node maintenance
  • U. S. Cellular signs on again as Title Sponsor of Enid Lights Up The Plains
  • Upper story development taking place downtown – Kennedy Mercantile Bldg. and 124 W. Randolph
  • Enid named a Preserve America community
  • Downtown Enid Main Street Merchants join together to create First Fridays


2007

  • Main Street participates in Great American Clean-up with 2 workdays
  • Jazz on the Main combines with Smokin’ Red Dirt Barbecue Cook-off and changes format and name to Jazz Stroll. Downtown businesses praise the new format for bringing the music and the customers to them.
  • New CSCC rack card being produced
  • Storm Basketball returns to Mark Price Arena
  • $6,621.56 spent to date on corner planters
  • Main Street has 2 nominees in Top Three State Main Street Awards
  • Café DaVinci wins State Main Street award for Best New Business Downtown
  • Plans underway for 8th annual Oktoberfest to combine with Harley Davidson convention
  • U. S. Cellular signs on as Title Sponsor for Enid Lights Up The Plains – for 5th year
  • City pulls Main Street contract to manage Conference Center after 5½ years.
  • Main Street downsizes Board, refocuses on original mission and goals.
  • Main Street office moves to 122 W. Randolph (Cansler Burk McGugin office bldg.)


2006

  • Main Street Enid presented with placque for showing over $20 million in reinvestment figures.
  • New businesses downtown include: For You Women’s clothing and accessories 200 block of W. Randolph, Scribner’s Art Gallery Gallery & Studio 100 block of S. Independence
  • Main Street participates in Great American Clean-up
  • Lindy Chambers speaks at State Historic Preservation Conference in Wilburton
  • Oktoberfest certified as an official Centennial Event
  • 8th Jazz on the Main
  • Mark Price Arena is renovated, including new flooring (first since 1940’s)
  • Scribner’s buy building on N.Independence and begin renovation
  • Storm Basketball returns to Mark Price Arena
  • $7,787.53 spent on downtown corner planters


2005

  • Main Street enters 7 awards at State Banquet
  • Main Street wins State best public improvement award for Legacy Tree Program
  • Main Street hires Emily Newkirk
  • Main Street partners with Autry Tech in using interns from graphic arts program
  • Main Street participates in the Great American Clean-up
  • 6th Oktoberfest
  • 7th Jazz on the Main
  • Reinvestment figures pass the $16 million mark
  • $5,054.96 spent on downtown corner planters


2004

  • Main Street Enid celebrates 10 year anniversary
  • Plans underway for Main Street Magazine
  • 12 State Award nominations submitted
  • Lindy Chambers speaks at National Town Meeting in Albuquerque
  • Legacy Tree Program established
  • 5th Oktoberfest
  • 6th Jazz on the Main
  • Main Street spends $7,115.12 maintaining downtown corner planters


2003

  • Reinvestment figures top the $15 million mark
  • Plans underway for 3rd annual Jazz Fest
  • Master plan for completing corner node planting project
  • Christie Greeson joins staff as an intern
  • New Main Street Members: Callahan’s, Shopper’s Edge, Mary Stallings, The Bike Shop, The Facial Room, Muncy Photography
  • Tenth annual Enid Lights Up The Plains
  • Comprehensive plan for replanting trees downtown (lost in ice storm)
  • Main Street manager Lindy Chambers selected to speak at 2004 National Main Street meeting
  • Melissa Mowrey hired as assistant
  • Fourth annual Oktoberfest
  • 5th Jazz on the Main


2002

  • Top Three Finalist in 2 Categories for Oklahoma Main Street Awards: Corner Node Landscaping Project for Best Public Improvement and Main Street Enid for Outstanding Program Administration
  • Three buildings on W. Randolph –facade painted (Munger, Conrad and Burkhart)
  • Stitchin’ Post moves to Layfield Building, The Facial Room moves Downtown, The Gallery of Fine Arts locates Downtown
  • Reinvestment figures near the $15 million mark
  • Main Street spends $3,168.49 on corner planters
  • Main Street Enid receives State Historical Preservation “Citation of Merit” Award
  • Second annual Jazz on the Main in Downtown Enid Main
  • Winner- Best Public Improvement for Corner Node Project

  • Bradford Industrial renovates warehouse
  • First ever Oktoberfest held at David Allen Memorial Ballpark
  • Meeting held to coordinate plan for corner planters


1999

  • Newman’s Department Store Purchased and occupied – AFTER BEING VACANT 16 YEARS
  • Anthony’s Dept. Store purchased and occupied
  • First Downtown Bed & Breakfast Opens
  • Convention Hall Improvements exterior, roof & entrance = represents $260,000 investment by City of Enid
  • David Allen Memorial Ballpark Opens – Site of Statewide Legion Tournament
  • Enid Symphony Center Renovation Completed
  • Renovation of Continental Towers North and South = represents a million dollar project
  • Richill’s Cafeteria Moves back downtown after a year and a half absence.
  • TEN RETAIL BUSINESSES OPEN BETWEEN JANUARY AND OCTOBER
  • Artist In Residence Program Underway - (Muralist, Stained Glass, Metal Crafting, Painter, Ceramics)
  • Private reinvestment reaches the TEN MILLION DOLLAR mark
  • Cumulative reinvestment total = more than 12 million.


1998

  • Advance Food Moves Downtown bringing 100 employees
  • Enid Lights Up The Plains has 10,000 in attendance
  • Major renovation of Continental Towers underway
  • Four restaurants open downtown
  • 11 façade improvements
  • Boy Scout Building Renovation Complete
  • Main Street Enid Publishes Magazine
  • Adventure Quest Expands
  • Reinvestment for 1998 totals 3.9 million
  • Cumulative Private Reinvestment Total (Since 1994) Reaches 5 Million
  • Cumulative Total (Both public and private improvements since 1994) = 9.1 million


1997

  • Historic Building Donated For Symphony Center
  • Overlay District Put into Place – Prohibited Uses Ordinance created
  • Allen family announces that they will fund construction of the ballpark
  • Outdoor Dining Ordinance Passed – first sidewalk dining establishment opens
  • Eight Facade Improvements
  • Streetscape # 2 (200 block W. Randolph)
  • Private reinvestment For 1997 Totals $ 621,796


1996

  • Adventure Quest Opens - NATIONS LARGEST OUTDOOR LEARNING PLAYGROUND
  • Former Sears Department Store Purchased By City and Renovated for Senior Center
  • City donates land for ballpark site Downtown
  • BKD (accounting firm) moves to downtown bringing 40 employees
  • Former Lerner Building renovated and occupied (after being vacant for more than a decade) by Stained Glass & More
  • Seven Façade Improvements
  • Private Reinvestment For 1996 Totals $631,038

  • Mid Block Walkway Created
